LOVE SONNETS
SONNET 35
Author: Juan José Camisón
Translation: J. Bloomsbury
To go far, far away, drunk with impatience,
exploring new kisses, words, latitudes,
leaving the books read and forgotten,
discovering other echoes in other new lips ...
Neither the beautiful gardens that reflect your eyes
nor the deep seas sailed by my ship,
won't anymore hold my drowned heart
by the rough deserts in moonless nights.
Sailing, pulling ahead, rowing full steam,
crossing seas, miles, captain or cabin boy,
and navigating quickly to remote beaches.
Leaving behind mermaids, worries, shipwrecks,
and advancing through the silver trail that promises
blue freedom songs, peace, islands of pleasures.
